Research:

It is assumed that a person's physiological signals could control more "limbs".

Brainwave Control Interactive Project

People not only can interact with the world through hands, and sounds, but they can also develop more sensory control capabilities, and interact with the world in any way they want.

Description

The project recognizes motion(brainwave, muscle electrical signals) and head posture to control hardware, such as the movement of rabbit ears and different colors of LEDs.

By reading the data of the body, the dimension of people's emotional expression is improved, and emotional expression is enhanced.

If humans are analogous to computers, humans have five sensory information inputs but only two channels for the information output. The core position of controlling behavior is the brain. Can we add more sensory output to people through technical means to help people carry out more dimensions of emotional expression and external control?

Research

  • As we absorb new sensory experiences and control new types of limbs, our meaning as individuals will also undergo profound changes. In addition to using sensory substitution to avoid ineffective sensory systems, we can also use this technology to add new perception capabilities to humans. This will increase the way we contact the world and enhance our experience of the world.            —— "The Brain: The Story of You" by David Eagleman

  • The cyborg--a hybrid of organism and machine--represents transgressed boundaries and intense fusions of the nature/culture split.          ——“Simians, Cyborgs, and Women”

  • Project Inspiration——Sensory:Chris Hill has created a whisker assembly for sensory augmentation, substituting flex sensors for the stiff hairs that we as humans don’t possess. you’d be able to sense nearby objects via the transmission of force through these hair structures.

  • Project Inspiration——Limb:A supernumerary robotic arm mounted on the back of a worker assists the worker in difficult assembly situations.

  • Project Inspiration——Limb:London-based product designer, Dani Clode designed a third thumb. Clode believes that prosthetics extend a wearer's ability. They shouldn't be regarded as a replacement for part of the human body.

FUTURE POSSIBILITY

The body we are born with is just the starting point of human beings. In the distant future, we can not only expand our body but also our self-awareness. As we absorb new sensory experiences and control new types of limbs, our meaning as individuals will also undergo profound changes: our "body" determines how we feel, how we think, and who we are.

At present, we don't know where the limits of the brain's integrated data types are, or whether there are limits. But it is clear that mankind can no longer only be stuck on the long time scale of evolution, waiting for the arrival of sensory adaptation. In the future, we will increasingly design our own sensory portals to the world and connect ourselves to the extended sensory reality.                                                                                                                                              —— "The Brain: The Story of You"

Research direction: "Extra Sensory Perception – How a world filled with sensors will change the way we see, hear, think, and live" Sensors and computers could make it possible to virtually travel to distant environments and “be” there in real-time, which would have profound implications for our concepts of privacy and physical presence.
